Thinking back to that day
I see we have come so far
So much closer to time
So much further from ourselves
From the words I spoke then
To the words ever silenced
For the hours past
For the years that may become

Intertwined in that fiend we call time
The eluder of capture
The immortal gatekeeper
Passing us by in river of confusion
Draining an ocean of possibilities
As each second ticks away
On the clock of our fate
Dreams fading as we walk
Our paths diverging
Crossing into ethereal skies
Cast into the night
Light fades as days draw closer
Closing in on finality
The end to all dreams
The beginning of rest
I awake
I awake to your voice
Calling after my name
Sleepily I answer
Stretching forth my arms
Reaching forward to grasp
To hold your fingers in mine
Realizing you were there
Always.
