Falling in the night
I feel the rain
Lightly resting
Upon the window of my life
Drumming a melody of time
As seconds drift
Into midnight hours
As the threads of sleep are pulled away
They elude my grasp
My mind awake
As the rest of the world lies
Serenely dreaming
Of the morrow
That meets my restless eyes
We are so distanced
Not only by miles but by ideas
We live separately in worlds apart
My life alive with words
Where thoughts float on gentle breeze
Carrying my dreams
Guiding my pen
Straying across the great distance
Telling of deep sorrows
Of unrequited love
Broken hearts
Loss.
Each pain carved
Forever preserved
As the ink dries
Each moment I write
Each thought that strays
Following my heart
Reason defied by ardent care
Each memory twisting
Clawing its way into my conscious
Her cool eyes
Like sapphire raindrops
Burn into my mind
Each note of her melody sustained
Held forevermore
A symphony plays my sorrow
Falling short….
Until you can hear
The silence of my soul.
