Moonlit Waters

In a serene field

A wolf lies basking in the sunlight

As the breeze blows softly upon his fur

He waits for sunset

The end to this bright world

An escape from the light of day

He lies watching the sun lazily

As it slides along the sky

Watching its progression

Until it dies and falls behind the horizon

Consumed in a funeral of flame

The night brings cool moonlight

He rises

Walks over to the gentle stream

Fascinated

While the moonlight plays upon the water

The light glistens in his eyes

Telling him of oceans far away

Of glorious sunsets

Of the starlit heavens

How precious

The heavens that shine eternally above

He is finished

As he looks up to the heavens

He spots a lone wolf in the distance

He joins her

Together they sing the beauty

Of moonlight upon the water.
