Familiar Tides

I stand outside the distant tide
As it beckons to my soul
My heart is drawn within it wake
As dusk infects the sky
Amber waves of starlit glory
Defy the azure peak
Of sapphire clouds and silver sand
That lay beneath my feet
The night has fallen
Inside my mind
As sleep calls to my heart
Rest my dear child
For tomorrow is yet here
The shadows creep upon the hills
Reaching above the night
Searching for life
To still their aching dreams
Desire unfed by light
They speak in soft whispers
Converse in secret signs
These dark figures
Which stand stark against the time
The winds blows softly upon my cheek
As dark clouds form ahead
The rain is but a mist of sorts
Dampening my head
My sigh is but a gentle wake
Upon the restless storm
Till waves break
Upon the shore
Bringing me to rest
Back home.

Rain Dance

There we waltz
Stepping softly upon the night
The sky falls
As rain descends softly upon us
Sweet moonlight
Piercing darkened sky
Pale eyes look into mine
As light fades into forsaken shadow
Time falls
Passing into the night
Leaving behind the worthless yesterdays
Erasing the thoughts from my mind
Winter
The snow falls now
Icy hands grip the frozen tundra
Broken trees fall
Shattering unto the ground
Pieces fall hither and thither
The frigid air
Unprovoked by time
Fades
As the sun rises
Once more.

Sakura Saku

Sakura trees blooming in the spring

The pink petals rain down upon us

They flutter in the wind

As we stand under  the majestic rainfall

We talk about our hardships

A lone petal falls into your hair

It matches the blossom I placed there earlier

Your eyes look to me for understanding

We embrace and bid farewell

As winter falls upon us you call me

You tell me that you are moving

You tell me as I press the phone to my ear

I feel your pain through it

As your voice shakes I picture you in the cold

Tears falling into fresh snow

Melting our hopes and dreams

As you stand there shaking

I know not how to comfort your sorrow

I am ashamed

6 months later…

I receive your first letter

We write across time and space

Reliving the past while sharing the present

As we each change more and more

As time passes

Your words give me comfort

A year later I tell you I am moving

My destination further than ever

Before I depart I take a train to see you

The snow begins to fall

I stand in the cold waiting for the train

Remembering your face

From your letters you always seemed alone

A voice above my head

My train is delayed

Each second I  wait is an eternity

I have spent two weeks writing a letter

Of all the things I have wanted to say

As I wait in the cold I reach into my pocket

The letter falls out and flutters into the wintry abyss

Carrying with it my desires

My train arrives and heads toward the next station

Each station there is a delay

An eternity at each stop

I wait as my companion time passes above me

As I watch the flakes fall I remember the tree

The fluttering of the petals and the comfort of your words

I rest in the cold train

Dreaming

As the train pulls into your stop I step into the station

I open the door and look into the small room

I see you there resting

I walk over to you and you grip my coat

Tear stream down your face

We head out into the snow

And catch up on our lives

We approach a sakura tree

Bare of its petals

At the base we stand together

I look into your eyes and know

This is the last

I lean in and we kiss

As we kiss I feel the whole weight of sorrow upon me

I now know that we will never be together

Always separated

My hope drains and I can only feel your lips

I depart in the morning

You look at me through the glass

I wish you well…..

Untitiled 2

Alone in the sunset
I lie waiting
Contemplating the past
The unspoken words
That should have lived
The ones spoken
That should have died
The nervousness
Lack of sight
All shrouded in my mind
Words flow like an ancient river
Wise and soft
Comforting and healing
Yet when I see her they fall
Like leaves to a seasonal death
Her smile inspires me
Her happiness brings about my soul
Her music, my lullaby
Yet her voice
My mind’s slumber
Awakens my heart
To new understanding
I face her
The world that surrounds us fades
For one moment
All I see
Is her.

Untitled

From the shadows of my heart
She calls
Her voice flows
Like an ethereal river
Running through my mind
Like morning dew
Her eyes shine
In a glorious sunset
Of auburn and crimson
Her smile
Captivates all
Her laugh is most precious
Like breath of life
It leads me to other worlds
Where love at last is found
Time passes between us
As seconds fall short
And words are left unspoken
A single rose
Lying on the ground
Fades
As I walk away
I look back and ponder
Should I leave…?
I ask myself
Always..

Fallen

An angel falls
Spiraling to the earth below
Heaven has fallen
Despair has risen
New heights
Lightly landing upon the sky
Tears fall
Clouds darken
Pain rains upon the land
I write of the darkness
As it descends
Consuming the light
Life extinguished
The frosty winds doth howl
As fire reigns
A single flame lights upon my window
Illuminating a dismal scene
Trees lie aflame in the distance
As lightning tears overhead
The open meadow lies desolate
Empty of life
Thoughts, as clouded as the sky
Through my mind fly
What now?
I ponder upon the possibilities
Should I leave this forsaken hive
Of fire, pain and death
Should I flee the blackened souls
As they writhe in agony
Should I stay behind
Watching the angels descend
Falling, all aflame to the night
I ponder as I write
As the sun rises
Nevermore.

Summer

Watching the days flow by
As the time passes
Everyday is the same
The sun
Shining brightly in the east
Burning into the soft sky
Each ray blinding
Then glorious sunset
At the beach
I lie with no worries
As the sun dies
Sinking below the horizon
In a funeral of flame
Night falls
As the sweet moon rises
Raining cool light
Upon my shoulders
As it hangs silently
It comforts me
Brings me out of this sorrow
This hole of bitterness
Its light gives me hope
As it illuminates my darkened world
The ghostly sphere
Dispels the shadows
Lifts me up
As I look skyward
To a new day.

Sunset Horizons

As you wade into the ocean
I watch from the shore
As the waves roll in and recede into the depths
Ever caught up in the cycle of life
The sunset reflects upon the waves
Its warm colors embracing
The cool colors of the sea
Reminding me of you and our past
The light that shines upon the darkness
Illuminating that which is shadowed
By sorrow
Weighed down by the endless trials
Revealing all that once was
As sunset fades into night

Winter’s Grip

The once green meadow
Covered in a fresh blanket of snow
The songbirds silent
Long gone from this place
A wintry howl is carried upon the wind
As a lone wolf cries unto his people
The icy breeze obscures the moon
A wintry haze distorting soft light
I sit there waiting for spring
Waiting for the warm rays of April
The rebirth
Of all things wonderful

Loneliness

A lone wolf treks through the snow
A cold winter’s night hangs overhead
The sharp breeze penetrates his fur
White speckles dot the hairs of his coat
Biting into his skin
Walking in solitude
Looking to the moon for comfort
That silver orb hanging in the chaos
Above him watching sorrows pass
He cries unto it for assurance
Unwavering he cries
Only to hear the icy wind answer him
Echoing his sadness
