Torn

Between two lands I rest
As I wait and catch my breath
The rain falling
Torrents of pain obscure my vision
On one horizon lies the sun
Perfect, bright, and beautiful
While at the other rests the moon
Peaceful, ghostly, pale, and lovely
I try to chose which land
I know which is the greater light
The greater promise
Though I risk the burns of eternity
While I can trust in the coolness
Of silver moonlight
Both comfort me in darkness
Both bring me joy and light
Which shall I chose
For delay…
Risks losing both.

Sunlight

Shines sweetly upon the meadow
A lone deer frolics
As the soft rays of dawn
Rest upon the dew covered grass
The ground is moist
Soaked from moonlit rain
A stream flows silently
Carrying away the dreams
The illusions of all
Floating away
Into the abyss
A light shines
Hopefully
A past dream
Crawls triumphantly
Onto the plain

Silver

Shining in the distance
Too far from my path
It hangs above me in majesty
Light shining around it
Not blinding
Illuminating the way before me
Transfixed I stumble
The light falls from my view
I look up
The sky is barren
For the light has flown
From my world
My life
My all

The Beach

Lies awaiting
In the distance
It calls to me
Telling me of sunlit horizons
Of azure skies
Sapphire waves
Rising and falling
Of cloudless wonder
Oh how the breeze whispers
Such sweet tales of delight
Each ray of sunlight
Glimmering across the shore
Beckoning
Motioning toward the dream
Calling me toward that fantasy
Dancing before my eyes
If I could only reach it
I would lie in torment
No longer

Writing

Words pour from my soul
Like the drops of rain
Beating against my window
The letters move across the page
Burning their meaning into time
The minutes pass
Each second an eternity
Flowing into another day
Seasons pass
As I ponder upon their worth
What do they mean to me?
Are they worth the time?
The seconds spent in agony
Waiting for the thoughts to form
Are they worth the sacrifice?
I ponder upon these things
As I write of my life
Where will I turn
When the words
No longer have worth?

Dreams

At this moment in time
As the stars pass before us
And the trees sway in gentle breeze
The night passes in darkness
Awaiting the moonlit summer
Of dreams
Of life
The leaves fall in autumns grasp
And freeze in winters chill
The bitter cold tears me so
The harsh calling of sweet serenity
A prayer within the night
A whisper from the shadow
A wolf’s howl brings me back to life
What is real
As the dream fades
And as the dream dies
I wonder
If it was worth the pain

Flight

The dream
It flew from me
Into the darkness
Into the night
It called to me
Telling me to stay
To leave it
To move onward
I chased it instead
Through darkest day
And brightest night
Through sorrow
Pain
Through gloom
I pursued it
Until I had it in my arms
Once more
I hold my dream
Once more
I might rest
Again

Cold

Flowing from the winter moon
As the snow falls sweetly
I rest outside
A harsh wind resides there
Rustling the few icy leaves
They hang in balance
Daintily holding on
As the chill spreads
Its icy fingers crisscrossing
Tearing through its veins
Shattering its life
Pieces fall
Into a whole new place
In time
In space
In infinity

Light

Falls from above
As I lay there in sorrow
It crawled into the abyss
Reaching here and there
Illuminating my life
Giving purpose to being
Bringing to pass a new path
A hand reaching down
Pulling me into the light
Embracing me in love
Sweet life
Take me
To that dream
In the sky

Betrayal

The time falls
Like rain upon a scarred land
Each second burns
Every minute
A tear that falls
Staining the ground
Each a stream
Streams that flow throughout
We swim in these rivers
These strands of time
We struggle against the waves
The current that pulls
Pushes against our progress
The rocks cut our feet
The wounds burn
Inside us the light resides
We push further along
Fighting against the path ahead
Sometimes alone
Yet other times
We are joined
By comrades willing to help
Who carry us in times of grief
Who push us along
With kind words
With love
We care for them
They for us
Yet sometimes the times are death
They kill us
Toss us into the darkness
Change us in ways
No one can understand
Sometimes it changes
Those around us
Taking their happiness
Turning them into shells
Ghosts of what they were
The trials betray us
In time
All turn against us
Sending us
Spiraling into the abyss.
